Short answer: Epic Games has not published the odds. The figure you see everywhere, about 1 in 700,000 chests (0.000143%), is a community estimate. Treat it as a rough guide, not a fact.

Where 1 in 700,000 comes from

The earliest dated use of the number we found is a post on X by CrisCraft on November 1, 2026, which calls it "the first reported odds" and does not say who reported them or how they were worked out. News sites picked it up from there. Epic's patch notes do not list a drop rate.

Date (2026) Who What they say Source or method given
November 1 Dexerto Epic hasn't shared the odds No figure given
November 1 Games.gg Epic has not published an official drop rate No figure given
November 1, 21:19 UTC CrisCraft (X post) "The first reported odds" are around 1 in 700,000 None
November 2 Insider Gaming "Estimates suggest" 1 in 700,000; "various sources" None named
Updated November 2 TheGamer "The belief right now" is about one in every 700,000 chests Players' belief, not confirmed
Updated November 3 Beebom States 1 in 700,000 (0.000143%) as fact None

What it means per match

If the estimate is right, the chance depends on how many chests you open. This is simple arithmetic on the community figure, not a measured rate:

Chests opened Rough chance
1 chest 1 in 700,000
20 chests (one busy match) About 1 in 35,000
80 chests (four players, 20 each) About 1 in 8,750
20 chests a match for 100 matches About 1 in 350

Because the whole party gets the token, a squad that splits up and opens more chests improves its shared chance. See chest locations for dense routes.

Why so many people seem to find it

Social feeds make the token look more common than it is. Players who find it post clips; the millions who don't, mostly don't post. Squad sharing also multiplies every find by up to four accounts.

Confirmed finds

We add a find only when a source we can open reports it. Clips without a source are not listed.

Date Who What Source
November 1, 2026 snowslept First reported find, opened from a chest mid-match; as of its November 2 update, TheGamer says it is the only one so far TheGamer, Dexerto
November 1–2, 2026 ShiinaBR and HYPEX (leakers) Reported that each party member receives two activations, one for 2026 and one for 2027 TheGamer

Does Treasure Hours raise the odds?

The Treasure Hunters patch notes replace Power Hours with Treasure Hours, which add more loot on weekends, according to Beebom. Nothing we found says Treasure Hours change the token's drop rate.

Sources and updates

November 3, 2026: first version, then updated the same day: added a short video on why the token feels rigged, and a table tracing the 1 in 700,000 figure back to its earliest dated source.
